Sometimes a family has only one photograph of a person: a small portrait, often creased, faded or water-marked, that has been passed from one relative to the next. Those are the photographs we’re asked about most often.
Restoring them takes judgement as well as skill. We repair damage and recover detail, but we’re careful never to invent a face or change who someone was. Where more information would help, other photographs of the same person can guide the reconstruction. We can also colourise a black-and-white portrait, keeping the restored original as well.

Where the original has enough detail, yes. We’ll advise the largest print size that will still look good when we assess your photograph.
Can you colourise a black-and-white photo of a relative?
Yes. We restore it in black and white first, and you keep that version. The colourised version uses restrained, natural colour. If you know details like eye or hair colour, tell us and we’ll use them.
Will my relative still look like themselves?
That’s the whole point. Every restoration is checked by eye against the original, and we preserve facial identity, expression and the photograph’s natural texture rather than making it look artificially modern.
